‘Doctor Who’ Spinoff Officially Happening #Disney , #BBC

The Doctor Whoniverse just expanded.

Disney Branded Television and the BBC have made official at San Diego Comic-Con that The War Between the Land and the Sea will extend the world of the British science fiction TV series with a focus on the 1970s foes the #SeaDevils.

The Doctor deceives the Sea Devils and destroys the entire colony (and species for all he knows). Not going to run a poll but curious as to whether people think he is right or wrong? Are his actions morally justified? #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

So the Sea Devils hold him hostage for a few hours and Walker is therefore convinced the only solution is a nuclear strike right off the south coats of England. Little bit of an overaction surely #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

Jon Pertwee must have been in his element filming this. He gets to ride around in a very cool boat, getting soaking wet and chasing someone who doesn't really resemble Roger Delgado that much #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

I'm struggling to think of a final episode up to this point which has felt as action packed. All of the stunts are great and the sailors storming the beach in a hovercraft make it feel much more epic than we are used to #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

Don't get me wrong, the Sea Devils work as a race and as the "monster of the week" but they suffer a little being so tied to the Silurians who felt much more like they had individual personalities #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

There is something really interesting done with Walker. He is patriotic and willing to sacrifice others in the name of that patriotism, Queen and Country and the national anthem, but when it comes to putting himself in harms way he hides in a cupboard #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

The character of Jo has come a long way since she met the Doctor. Compare her in this episode for example to her appearance in Terror. No companion since Ian and Barbara has changed this much during their travels #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

Captain Hart is an adequate substitute for the Brigadier in this story, but the dynamic would have been very different in a UNIT episode. If the Brigadier had been here then we could have had unresolved tension over the end of the Silurians playing a role #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

Once again the story is going for very similar beats to the Silurians. I am curious why the Doctor thinks he can achieve peace this time when he failed the last and would have liked more exploration of what he would do differently this time around #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

Walker doesn't get the best introduction, walking in and making demands for breakfast. It is almost as if this show is growing increasingly disdainful of government officials #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

When doing a 6 part story the sensible thing to do is to have a 4 part story which then pivots for the final 2. This does it perfectly. At the end of ep 4 we pivot away from the castle as our main setting and move out to sea #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

The navy being involved in the production elevates this story a lot. Visually this whole story is a lot more interesting than we are used to #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

This is the Master at his most callous so far. It is one thing him killing strangers but Trenchard has been with him every day for what must have been months, planning and working together so this feels more off putting than normal #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

"I shall attend to the security of my prisoner" There is something dignified in Trenchards death scene. He may have been working with the villain but you get the sense that as pompous and naïve as he may be he is deep down a good man #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

I'm not sure I have ever disliked the Doctor more than the scene where he steals poor Jo's sandwiches, just look at her face. Its like being back in the Daemons again #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

I like the design of the Sea Devils (even in the close up shots). I think they really work here but struggling to think of another Sea Devil story (in any medium) that works as well as their introduction #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

I am surprised that it has taken this long for the sonic screwdriver to really show up. With the line "It converts into a rather good mine detector" we begin to expand its function and role #DoctorWho #SeaDevils

This story really has some great clifhanger's. They are all completely different from one another but work really well. I can remember watching this for the first time and then having to wait a week for a resolution...torture #DoctorWho #SeaDevils
