  1. @kimlockhartga I don’t know. We never actually had high winds here, but the Santa Annas died down last night. I guess #SDGE decided we don’t need electricity after all.

  2. Currently approaching 30 hours without power from the grid. Batteries got to 55% overnight and are now recharging. #SDGE

Our internet has been up and down for the last 24 hours. Currently it’s back up, and there’s two #cox trucks sitting on the street in front of the neighborhood substation. They appear to be there for one purpose… to keep the generator that they plugged into it running. 😂

  3. #SDGE's outage page claims we wont get power restored until tomorrow night… 😒

Thankfully, we we have more than 24 hours of power stored, at our current usage level.

Green chunk on the first image is when the power went out at 3am. I woke up at six and went around to unplug all the latent power users that were still on. That little spike is when I made breakfast in our mini microwave. Yellow is when the sun came up. Once the battery hit full charge, it alternated between charging and depleting

  4. @somcak Oh, no no no. We must do nothing that will cost shareholders even one red cent! #SDGE 🤬

  5. Fcking #SDGE shut down power yesterday evening due to Santa Annas blowing (fire risk). 10s of thousands w/o electricity. Until when? Who knows.

OMG, I’m in such a foul fcking mood.

We need a whole house generator. #SoCal #NoPower

  6. Entering hour nine of a power outage. None of us got good sleep. #SDGE says its gonna be another 3 before restored, but this is the fourth time its been moved back.

We’re sitting outside an original pancake house, waiting for it to open.

    I am so tired.

  7. #SDGE is having another planned power outage for our neighborhood tonight; the third of the year, not counting two unplanned outages.

They also still have yet to approve our building permit to install solar and batteries, after 8 months.

So, I figured it was finally time…

  8. Power’s inexplicably off to 2000 homes in my neighborhood with no return time estimate — good thing today is a fabric cutting day!

  9. The basic TOU plan is called DR1 and the #SDGE "Plan Calculator" says this would be the cheapest option for me.

Using data from the past 6 months, the DR1 plan would leave me with a $78 balance. The EV-TOU5 plan would leave me with a $175 credit. This plan comes with a $16 a month charge, so if we subtract this cost, I still have a $79 credit.

Now, the monthly fee is not part of NEM, so I'd end up with a $16 plus tax electric bill every month, but have room to burn more kWh on other things

  10. I can't think of any other way to calculate the cost of electricity using the Green Button Data I can download from #SDGE. The data is a CSV with total net energy every 15 minutes.

I manually and crudely put the per kWh cost for the two plans I'm comparing depending on the time of day and day of week. There are going to be some errors, but it should give me a general idea.

  11. Oh great, #SDGE started the new year with new rates.

On our current plan, the On Peak rate in the summer is now 82 cents per kWh. The Super Off Peak rate went from 10c to 15c. That's a 50% increase! This is the rate we use to charge the car.

I think we've had the most expensive #electricity in the country for a while, and this just solidifies our lead.
