🏴 ENG 4 - 🔱 NEP 0

(8) #AteniensesMAN :atenienses: (22-16)
vs. (9) #SantosADJ :santos: (22-16)We're going to go the other way here and start with the Santos, who had embarrassing low-score losses but also strangled almost every offense in Hostos thanks to excellent pitching from Eleuterio Martínez.
Against that, the Atenienses don't score many runs . . . until they beat the shit out of you in late innings by taking advantage of tired pitchers. On paper, the Santos have this. But we think it's Atenienses in 5.

#SantosADJ :santos: over #MontañesesUTU :montaneses:—You've all been waiting for this; Emilio Buitrón went 7 IP, 9 H, 8 ER, 2 HR, 8 BB, 0 K, 130 P.
In G2. That's right, Utuado thought they had a worse pitcher than that.
#PolluelosAIB :polluelos: over #ToritosCAY :toritos:—knew it was coming.
#MarinerosBAR :marineros: over #MogotesFLO :mogotes:—1-run games. G1 got postponed and became a doubleheader.
The Mogos win 80 games almost every year. Bit sad to generate no offense against Barceloneta.

The #SantosADJ :santos: become the first team to hit multiple home runs in one game in 1888, only to be immediately eclipsed by Francisco Sotelo (3B, #PlatanerosCOR :plataneros:) becoming the first *player* to hit multiple home runs in the same game, followed by his teammate Héctor Sandoval.

For the second year running, the #SantosADJ :santos: gave up a great outfielder for a few assorted prospects. While Cavazos has had a bit of a slow start, he's re-established the reputation he built as a national champion—twice over!—for coming up clutch when there's ducks on the pond.

CW: :lnp: preseason predictions (LH)
LH Cordillera Oeste:
After not making the playoffs since 1882 and trading away a bunch of their best players, the #SantosADJ :santos: have apparently stockpiled enough talent for another run, though it's likely to be by a thin margin over the always-dangerous #CerrosJAY :cerros: and their batsmen. -
