Of all the #RoseHips I've tried recently, this one I found today was the most delicious. Not much flesh around the ample seeds, but by far the sweetest. Weird how the taste is fruity, but also like pea pods.

Uiterlijk: rond tot langwerpig, rood, oranje, purper of zwart.
Voeding: rijk aan vitamine C, ook A, B1, B2 en E.
Gebruik: verwerkt in jam, siroop, thee en in Zweden zelfs in soep.
Natuur: belangrijk wintervoedsel voor vogels.

These hips are the last remnants of last year hanging on to a large and venerable Rosa glauca (formerly Rosa rubrifolia) bush. These are a species rose with a reddish tint to there leaves and very simple pink flowers that last a week at most. The payoff, apart from the foliage, are these giant hips. The fact that it is raining today adds a certain melancholy to their appearance.

This has recurved prickles. You will discover these prickles if you get close because you will stay close because you will be hooked in your clothes or skin or hair.
It's a reminder of many things.
This one is also growing between two hawthorns which has nice long thorns on it. The other is growing under and up into a black locust, which has thorns too and next to a himalayan blackberry patch... too many sharp plants.
