When I heard that Bruce Springsteen et al did “Rainy Night in SoHo” in Ireland, I was excited. It’s too low for him, but I appreciate the respect. They can’t do it better though.

Shane MacGowan was included in The Ireland Anthology, a 455-page compendium of Irish literature published in 1997. It printed his lyrics for The Body of an American by The Pogues.

I was so desperate for more Pogues music that I didn't just buy doubles, I bought TRIPLES of some of their records... Probably would have done to have actually gotten a copy of every record and not missed a few instead, but oh well.

The Pogues made me appreciate Irish music so much more than the trad diehards whose elitism I couldn't stomach.
Their music will be alive for centuries to come.
