In biology, it's when a genetic trait that "disappeared" resurfaces/reactivates after having been 'gone'.
Socially, it is the tendency of #reversion You may call reverting to behaviors of the past, personally, or societally, to remedy a perceived problem, or to reattempt a societal #revolution or goal, atavism.
Some examples include #eugenics to bring back traits from a lost 'superior race', the #tradwife trend, undoing #civilrights progress, etc.
