Yep, back at cheevo grinding in Sonic Spinball again! I think I play this every year in May (and when certain conditions are met). Let's see if I can actually beat the game for a third time this time! https://twitch.tv/icekitsune

So, I know I said I was going to be talking a lot of #Valis but in the last two weeks I spent more time talking Star Fox.
Well, I haven't been idle.
And truth be told, I have been somewhat distracted...Believe me... We have a lot to discuss here...
Ignore some of the clear times in those pictures, as they are slightly misleading. Sometimes my steam deck, when in sleep mode likes to keep track of how many hours I have been "playing"
-
15 hours of Dr. Mario may have been too much. My left hand will never be the same.
At least I finally beat the hardest stage.

ROM Article - If you're going to hype up the Neo Geo+, at least admit you know about all the blood
Also this issue: RetroAchievements come to the MiSTer, and a PS1 cross between Zelda and Tomb Raider gets a translation.

This is rad.
Someone created a proof of concept build that adds #RetroAchievements support to the #MiSTerFPGA!
https://github.com/odelot/Main_MiSTer/releases
It feels like it pushes against the MiSTer ethos, but I don't care. We have save states already, and I love RAs to the point where I've much stopped using my MiSTer because it doesn't have them. Getting them working is a real plus.
There's even early support for hardcore achievements on some cores!
Really hope it makes it into the main branch.

#Retrogaming #Retroachievements
I've been fussing with Mario Golf Advance. I don't know where the "shot contests" are, and I feel very lost.. -
I reworked my #Retroachievements play activity and progress tracker to only account for "Progression" and "Win Condition" achievements. Now I'm feeling a lot more confident about finishing “Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons”. My estimated remaining play time dropped from 25 hours to 5 hours... 😅

I built a small progress calculator for #RetroAchievements using their API, and it's showing ~23h to beat LOZ Oracle of Seasons based on my progress speed. Compare that to 18h estimate from "Time to Beat"... this has been accurate to my feelings. I've been loving the @delta_emulator + Pocket Taco + RetroAchievements combination so far :)

I mentioned it a while ago when I played old Tiny Toons games, but I wanna mention it in general, as well:
"RetroAchievements" is a website that basically allows you to collect Achievements / Trophies in old games, before systems got achievement-systems, as long as your used emulator supports it.
I think it's a really fun idea, especially, of course, if you're an achievement hunter:

This last week has been an interesting week.
I can honestly say that the Ganbare Goemon series on the SNES, in its entirety, is absolutely worth playing.
Each game plays differently, but with a sense of familiarity.
Kiteretsu Shogun Magginesu and Kirakira Douchuu have the most similar game flows, but it only in that they are predominantly stage based 2D platformers.
The games get progressively more zany, in the best possible way and escalate in the silliest ways. I'll be doing a bumper presents on the other 3 games I haven't covered because each game deserves so much spotlight on them, and that isn't because I have spent the better part of nearly 48 hours playing these games!
