A hammer misused is dangerous. AI, far more so. Yet among those who sense the danger — among those who feel an almost instinctive revulsion — few ask about the name.

But the name is a program. An act of power. Whoever coined it had a precise intention, and that intention is the real danger: calling the machine intelligent is meant to switch off our own intelligence.

To fight the machine without questioning the name — to accept that it is intelligent — is to start defeated. However fierce the animosity, in your heart you've already dropped your arms. To praise it without judgment is to open the door to a political program that turns the tool into a means of subjection.
