And now for the bombshell: RegioJet has come crawling back and asking for routes in next year's timetable. And a bunch of their requests were accepted, but mostly from Warsaw Gdańska:
- 4 pairs Warsaw-Gliwice (3 exceptionally to/from Centralna)
- 2.5 pairs Warsaw-Kraków ("the worst" slots, apparently)
- 5 pairs Warsaw-Poznań (same)
- 1 pair Warsaw-Szczecin
- 5 pairs Warsaw-Wrocław

63 requests were rejected for various reasons, such as inconsistencies with UTK filings, lack of confirmation from DB InfraGO or being requests for Warsaw Central that overlapped with Warsaw Gdańska.
Additionally, PKP PLK has shared that their Gliwice routes would have to be 'limited' due to the continuing rebuild of Katowice station.

In other #RegioJet news, apparently they got legal advice regarding #BeerOnTrains - namely, that the Standard class compartment car that contains the catering section counts as a buffet car for the purposes of Article 14 1. 4) a) of the Act of 26 October 1982 on sober upbringing and prevention of alcoholism (Dz.U. 1982 nr 35 poz. 230) and serving and drinking beer (and other drinks up 4.5% alcohol) in that one carriage is permitted.
Also, they cannot translate "světlý ležák" into a sibling language, for shame.

The same Warsaw-Poznań trains that became a target of harsh critique from Koleje Wielkopolskie, the Greater Poland Voivodeship's railway company, for forcing longer layovers on some of their morning trains used by commuters (looking at the tables, I'm not sure the problem is quite so super big, but I suppose my opinion would have been different had I been among those whose trains have been delayed 8+ minutes). Plans to open ticket offices appear to have been delayed, too.

For some reason, they published the revised annoucement of their arrival in Poland at a different address, and left the original up, so you can compare them:

Meanwhile in #RegioJet… not drama, but incompetence: Apparently, passengers with seats in carriage 4 of yesterday's RJ 3104 (they added a second pair a few weeks ago iirc) received text messages in Czech informing them that the car would be missing "for technical reasons" and that due to the rest of train being at capacity, the carrier "recommends cancelling the ticket and using another connection". Telling passengers to give up compensation aside in a language they don't speak (in Poland, "storno" is just some word you see on receipts :P), the message turned out to be plain wrong as carriage 4 was, in fact, available.

#RegioJet drama, continued: both #PKPIC and RJ are very unhappy about PKP PLK's handling of the ongoing works on the Kraków-Tunel section - a key bottleneck where trains bound for the CMK high-speed(-capable, depending on definition) line, those taking the interregional route via Kielce and Radom, those bypassing the GZM (Katowice) area via Koniecpol and local trains all compete for capacity. This is the same part-closure that forced RegioJet's initial train pair to be diverted via Zawiercie this year, which they say yhey were fine with as that train was requested as an individual timetable mid-year.

On RegioJet's part, one pair is to be cancelled and one other train diverted via Zawiercie. On the other hand, two EIP pairs are to be cancelled.
RJ says that's still unfair to them, because the pair that got cancelled is the one they expected to be the one that would capture morning traffic from Kraków to Warsaw and hence, the highest demand.

For its part, PKPIC protests that RegioJet trains running direct between the two big cities without stopping were prioritized over state-subsidized IC/TLK trains serving the towns in between (although PKPIC is itself cutting a bunch of stops around the country in the next timetable) - 3 out of the 4 Lublin-Radom-Kraków pairs are to be cancelled, and 9 other pairs redirected, 3 of which will have their stop in Kraków Główny moved to Kraków Płaszów.

#RegioJet drama update: They're now openly warning they're preparing a complaint to the European Commission about their Warsaw-Kraków trains getting timetabled for 8~9 minutes longer travel times than similar #PKPIC trains despite declaring the same top speed (what about braking curves tho). RegioJet's press office confirmed the messages were genuine and WhatsApp was chosen as the 'fastest method of communication'.

That makes one obvious route, which may be interesting as it covers a curve in Karb, Bytom that hasn't seen regular passenger services in a long time, if ever

#RegioJet promises tickets for Warsaw-Kraków trains will start at 9 PLN in December (for comparison, Leo is 8~12 PLNand PKPIC definitely more). ZSSK at Žilina station is a complete shit show. Departure platforms are consistently announced very late. In our case 4 minutes before departure leading to a massive scrum to get to the train.
With Sacha's disabilities and the lack of lift or escalators - well, it wouldn't have been our fault if we had caused a departure delay. (We didn't but it left before we'd sat down).

Equally unimpressed at the moment with #regiojet - no luggage space in 'Business Class' and the conductor made a big deal of his failure to scan our #interrail passes (not my fault - it's your equipment).
And - while I'm on a roll - what's with the frosting on the compartment corridor glass so that I can't see the scenery except through the window?

I'll calm down in a bit!

#RegioJet train #1034 from #Budapest 🇭🇺 to #Prague 🇨🇿 is seen here at #Vienna 🇦🇹 Hbf earlier this afternoon. The consist includes cars originally operating for #SBB and #ÖBB. Some of the latter ones have retained the red-coloured roof. Until recently, ex #DB TEE open plan cars could also be seen on these trains.

#RegioJet officially announced their Polish open access network, including #CrossBorderRail, set to launch on #RailwayNewYear in December, with full service from April 2026. Routes:

Fair bit of boasting, especially about their role as an employer (still intensively looking, I guess), and also an admission: "As the offer until December 2025 is pure marketing, our travel times will be a bit longer (around 30 minutes) and there will be only one pair of our connections. That's why we will be offering tickets **at very low prices**. The catering prices are final, however."

So, a propos https://101010.pl/@Zenek73/115022967620447842 - looks like a rare instance of mainstream media not only getting ahead of industry media, but doing so without overhyping: it's official, #RegioJet will run its first Polish domestic open access train pair between Kraków and Warsaw starting on 18 September, with more to come from December, apparently (according to https://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/regiojet-zadebiutuje-na-trasie-warszawa--krakow-juz-we-wrzesniu-124366.html)

Timings have popped up on Portal Pasażera for the northbound, (late) morning train only, the 3104/5, routed with a detour through Zawiercie, where it is to stop, followed by taking the CMK up to Warsaw without further stops at an average speed of ~125 km/h, timed a few minutes slower than the international IC/ECs doing the same route with passenger stops. The detour is apparently caused by planned works on the line between Kraków and Tunel.

Getting my money's worth out of my 1st class #Interrail, with luck, on today's first #Trains2Tatras journey: 7 hours direct from Poprad Tatry, #Slovakia to Prague.
'Business class' on #Regiojet seems mainly to be huge seats but less view out of the windows at the stunning scenery.
Oh, and free prosecco.

Hat jemand von Euch in letzter Zeit online mal eine Sitzplatzreservierung für den #RegioJet Wien-Budapest gekauft?

Laut RegioJet ist die Zugnummer für Interrail freigegeben. Aber ich kann Interrail oder Sitzplatz only nirgendwo angeben.

Die Anleitung von @seatsixtyone passt auch nicht mehr.

"Regiojet passholder reservations can be made online at www.regiojet.com: Use the journey planner as if buying a normal ticket. When prices appear, look for the Only seat reservations toggle and use it. Select the train you want, then under Type of ticket purchased select Interrail & Eurail.
