Sebastian Benefield was an English Calvinistic preacher. Here he comments on Amos 2:6. If there is a poor person, who takes part in an honest trade or way of life, one must not turn them out of their way, one must not misinterpret their words and actions.
Gov’t regulation might be squashing the way of the very small businessperson. But isn’t big biz doing a lot as well?
How can you protect the way of the meek, and the poor?

Anthony Farindon, Anglican minister, writes on love of mercy (Is 58). The world or our flesh may think we are our own. But God has instituted “reciprocal offices of mercy”: we must do not, not merely refrain from harm of neighbor.
There are modern political views that celebrate the mere lack of not doing harm, at which one’s responsibility is ended.
How can you carry out reciprocal offices of mercy?

Thomas Taylor was an Anglican priest. Christ was hungry in his temptations as well as thirsty on the cross. He also suffers in his members (Christians). Don’t turn a blind eye to them, nor offer vinegar to drink. Our neighbors need our compassion as well as our own conversion. Therefore treat them kindly.
Is it offensive to link OUR OWN conversion as being incomplete when we are slow to help?
How can you despise not your poor fellow-member?
