I was looking for a flac download to "re-rip" my Rain Parade album so I wouldn't have to hunt the cd down, and found they were on bandcamp, with a deluxe edition of the cd I wanted. I'll just buy it again. Check it out. Cool sound for the 80s.

Crashing Dream was their move to a major label, as their debut was on an independent label. On its release, it was greeted with mixed reviews, and I remember thinking at the time that I felt it was not as good as their debut. I’ve just been reunited with this wonderful record!
#RainParade was Steven Roback’s first band, which would evolve first into Opal, then into Mazzy Star. There’s an argument to be made that it’s the best record of the ‘80s “Paisley Underground“ movement, and I agree – hazy, sleepily beautiful psychedelic dream pop. 🖤
(When I moved away from San Francisco many years ago, I gave several crates of vinyl to a friend – I didn’t have a record player, and was just sick of moving them! He recently asked if I wanted them back, and I said no – they were a gift – so he went through and picked his favorites, leaving about a half-crate for me, including this gem. 🥰)

TIL that I've always had the order of release of the first two Rain Parade records backwards and that David Roback left during the making of the first and thus did not play guitar on "No Easy Way Down". The word is MagicOpal, “Magick Power” from “Happy Nightmare Baby,” 1987
Opal finds Dave Roback between his bands #RainParade and #MazzyStar, teamed with Kendra Smith, post- #DreamSyndicate. They released just one studio #LP; a compilation of earlier unreleased recordings followed.
While a muscular guitar-centric band, they had a #Doors -like aesthetic; this track in particular has a #psychedelic, almost droning quality, befitting their roots in #LA's #PaisleyUnderground.
