These cars go by many names but their role is for transferring molten metal from the blast furnace to the steel mill. The liquid metal gets over 3000 degrees and these cars are made to transport it and can keep it liquid for 24+ hours

The Nevada Northern Railway Museum in Ely is the gold standard for train buffs. With the exception of the gift shop, it is as if the entire railyard was frozen in time from the 1930s. The machine shop (my favorite!) is fully operational and visitors are free to walk in and roam around at will.
