  1. Brilliant: I'm working on my Unicode talk… and have a Unicode issue. 🤣 My (up-to-now) trusted #Pry console (for Ruby) gives me

    > ''.encoding
    => #<Encoding:BINARY (ASCII-8BIT)>

    instead of the expected
    'ä'.encoding
    => #<Encoding:UTF-8>

    (which I DO get in #irb or a plain #Ruby script).

    If you have an idea why this is, please let me know. 🙏🏼 My Google foo isn't good enough, it seems, and asking AI left me moving in circles so far.

  3. Bebe skipped along the Docking Ring of the Truck Stop at the Center of the Galaxy.
    "Miss Bebe!" called a voice. A young man wearing a white dress uniform approached her.
    "Wah!" she cried. "It's Prince Hiccup!"
    "Prince Philip," corrected Philip. "I don't mean to #pry, but does Miss Popo ever talk about me?"
    "She had hiccups last night."
    "But does she ever talk about me?"
    "We talked about how to get rid of hiccups. If you hold your breath they go away."
    Bebe started holding her breath.

  4. Did a vandal damage this Jon Tester sign with a knife 🔪 or a #Pry bar?

  5. This may be … interesting: When using pry/irb *inside* a #Rails project (which has neither sqlite3 nor pry declared anywhere in the #Gemfile), #pry will show the error, and #irb won't.

  6. The sqlite3 gem is installed and, for example irb, work just fine:

    $ irb -r sqlite3
    3.0.1 :001 > SQLite3::VERSION
    => "1.4.2"

    What's going on? — Or what am I doing wrong? #Ruby #pry
