If you are keen on moving across to #Pixelfed from #Instagram, but wish that you could bring your history of photos across with you, I am happy to say that this is now possible!
Pixelfed has just rolled out the ability to import your old insta images into Pixelfed whilst maintaining information around dates etc. This makes moving over easier than ever!
Keep in mind that you may need to do the import a few times as you can only do 100 images in at a time and there is a cap of 1000 images, but it is pretty fluid and easy to do.

Something that should have been obvious to me, but wasn’t, is that you can view your Pixelfed account and feed via any of the Mastodon apps! Who knew? Not me! Works a treat. Just add your Pixelfed account on your app of choice. #pixelfed #Pixelfedtips

I created a #pixelfed account, I uploaded a picture, and there's an explicit browser link for that post.
I logged into that #instance on #mastodon so I can see myself through the #fediverse, but how can I share my pic either from pixelfed to mastodon or from one instance to another?

Need #PixelFedTips. I'm trying to link my #Pixelfed account by following it from my #Mastodon account so I can reshare my Pixelfed pics to Mastodon (is that the way to go about it?). I've successfully followed someone from #pixelfedsocial, but I can't follow myself. It seems to work at first but I don't appear in my follows, and when I return to my pixelfed profile in mastodon search, it shows the option to #withdraw. Posts don't make it through. What am I missing? maybe @pixelfed can help?

As you may have seen, @pixelfed has made changes to its software so that it is now compatible with most Mastodon apps.
This means (if the new feature is working correctly!) you can log into your PixelFed account on a Mastodon app, as long as your PixelFed instance has updated to the latest version of the software. Ask your instance admin if you're not sure.
The Mastodon app compatibility is brand new so it may have bugs. The PixelFed team has asked people to let them know if they have any problems.
Alternatively, there's a dedicated PixelFed app for Android called @PixelDroid which is available from @[email protected]. There's a guide for installing F-Droid at https://switching.software/replace/google-play
Also, there's an official dedicated PixelFed app on the way for Android and iOS, though it hasn't been released yet.
