Halfway between Halfmoon Bay And Santa Cruz is where you will find this lighthouse. The light was built in 1872 and is 115 feet tall. It is named Carrier Pigeonafter the ship that wrecked here in 1853.
The surrounding area is a great place to explore with beaches, tide pools and dunes to climb on. Rode from #SantaCruz to #PigeonPoint yesterday morning, about a 50 mile round trip. Perhaps not the most prudent thing to do, given that I’m doing a trail half marathon with nearly 4,000 feet of climbing next Saturday. Ah well, keep going until you can’t, right?

Goodnight All, Today's Sunset (albeit a bit early in its set) is a panorama of the Pigeon Point Lighthouse located roughly between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz, California. The 115 foot lighthouse built in 1871. THe tower has been closed since 2001 because of issues with the walkway supports.
