Your lungs have little sacks called alveoli that fill up with air and help you breathe in more oxygen.
Over time, these sacks can collapse, causing your body to have less oxygen and more carbon dioxide.
This can contribute to the stress response.
But, by taking two big, deep breaths and then letting out a long exhale, you can "pop" these sacks open and breathe easier:
