Musk recently had an interview with the Economist. I only listened to the business discussion at the beginning (not the politics); I turned it off in disgust because Musk was talking gibberish, asserting that money/property would be irrelevant in 10 years... we'd have fully automated space communism or something like that. Meanwhile, I hear that Altman made some declaration about entering the 'singularity' since computer 'intelligence' now exceeds human intelligence (whatever that means).

It strikes me that these guys (and this whole school of thought) express the same intellectual errors as Marxists.

1. They have a simplistic theory of history based on increasing production capability, where their actions will bring about a paradise of abundance where everyone has everything they want. Real history puts this idea to lie, along with similar claims of divination.
2. They demand immense power (even absolute power) so that they can lead us to this future.
3. They justify massive sacrifices today in the dreams of bringing about this future paradise. I have yet to see an AI martyr or direct mass murder, but they definitely justify extreme callousness for the sake of this future.
