2. Sync auf lokales NAS mit RAID 1
3. Dezentrales Backup auf Cloudserver. Gerade noch pCloud, überlege aber Wechsel zu Filen oder auf meine selfhosted Nextcloud.

Läuft zuverlässig und tatsächlich ohne große Skripterei.

Done, I've migrated to the yearly 500 GB plan of #pCloud. It works reasonably well if you don't push it constantly like a maniac. Though I really wish the Linux AppImage had some (obvious?) way to monitor the recently changed files, as well as exactly which files fail to sync, which was a problem of itself when it happened a few days ago.

So #privacy people...I currently use pCloud with EU servers for my cloud storage/backup. The price is right, I don't have to worry with it too much (though their WebDAV support is terrible)

I pay for space and the 1year modification retention.

Is there something else I should be looking at for this? Is their something they do/don't do? How do they rate on the privacy scale?

Fighting against my own mind and pain, I've managed to type up a draft fiction episode, but on my phone.

It's made trickier with using #Obsidian on my phone, and using Folder Sync to upload it to #pCloud so Obsidian on my desktop syncs the changes.

It's a farce, largely caused by Google restricting app access to certain folders on my #Android phone. That and avoiding the need to pay Obsidian for a sync service.

Ich bin noch hin und her gerissen, ob #nextcloud (managed) oder doch sowas wie #proton #ksuite #pcloud etc. Nextcloud scheint mir als Einsteiger erstmal durcheinander...

Was ich gern wissen würde und wo ich öfter drüber stolpere: Wie handhabt ihr das mit euren Bildern und der Synchronisation in die Cloud? Lasst ihr es einfach direkt immer synchronisieren, wie es Google gemacht hat, oder macht ihr eher Backups? Warum? Weil ich gern die Bilder in der Cloud haben würde, sowie auf dem Handy, falls mal kein Internet im Busch oder so. Wenn ich jetzt Bilder löschen möchte, passiert das meist nicht parallel in der Cloud, das müsste dann doppelt laufen. Die meisten Anbieter machen das wohl bewusst so!?

Wie löst ihr das bzw. handhabt ihr die Bilder?

Ich teste gerade #ksuite von #infomaniak , sowie #nextcloud. Kannst ja gern mal berichten, da ich auch noch unschlüssig bin. Eine gute Fotoverwaltung wir bei Google wäre fein. Ob ich vpn und sowas brauche, weiß ich nicht wirklich.
Nextcloud scheint doch etwas unübersichtlich für Einsteiger. #pcloud hatte ich auch noch gelesen...

Finally got around to removing Insync https://www.insynchq.com/ in favour of just using pCloud. It hasn't worked properly with Google Drive in ages, authentication is broken.

Hilariously stupid that Google Drive doesn't support Linux natively, they have tons of desktop Linux use inside Google.

I love supporting underdogs like Insync, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Pity.

@altim Ik zit met hetzelfde, wil graag van mijn all-in-google omgeving af. Ik heb geen zin in een eigen server thuis en te veel onderhoud in het uptodate houden etc.

#pcloud beviel me niet, de apps waren te mager, bv voor de foto's.

Waar ik naar wil gaan kijken is #Yunohost op #hertzner en daar dan Nextcloud en #immich op installeren.

So, mal einen ersten schnellen Geschwindigkeitstest gemacht: Filen gegen den Crypto-Ordner von pCloud antreten lassen.

War jetzt nur 1 große Datei, muss ich dann noch mit kleineren testen, aber das Ergebnis ist recht eindeutig. Upload Filen mit 270 MB/Sek., pCloud nur 60 MB/Sek.

(Mein WLAN: 100 down/40 up).

This is day 5 of #pCloud refusing to reply or acknowledge the reported data leak (or whatever is the correct name) from many people on Reddit, and I haven't seen anyone else here talking about it.

Don't people care at all about #security ?

Is pCloud not relevant enough to be worth a proper investigation?

Reddit sub r/pCloud is full of users complaining they can access other people files or had their own deleted. What a mess.

Do not trust this service. They either have an unacceptable bug or have been hacked quite badly.

➡️ Das ganze sollte benutzerfreundlich und sicher sein, da Passwort Safe und Foto #Backup zu den Daten gehören.

Also im "normalen" Alltag funktioniert #pCloud gut genug, noch unauffälliger vermutlich, wenn nur ein Rechner dran hängt. Aber wehe, du rührst den Datenbestand mal so richtig um, dann ist es 1. langsam, 2. grätscht mein zweiter Rechner immer rein und will gelöschte Dinge wieder hinzufügen, wirft dann aber 3. Tonnen von Fehlern, hängt sich daran auf und synct neue Dateien nicht und 4. ist der Client gerne mal instabil.

Doch mal wieder #Filen.io testen?
