A veterinary sedative called medetomidine ("rhino tranq") is now showing up in about 35% of opioid samples at CDC testing sites. Naloxone can restore breathing but can't reverse the sedation. The withdrawal syndrome is severe enough to require ICU care. This is why harm reduction isn't optional — people need to know what's actually in the supply if they're going to survive long enough to find recovery.
