Carrying on from this, I rather enjoyed the #Punisher: One Last Kill special. And it's largely well liked.

But you should hear some folks in the comments ripping it up because it's not completely faithful to the comics. It's not the Frank Castle they're familiar with.

You know what else isn't faithful to the comics?

The Boys.

They adapted the original material to make something better. And it's incredibly successful. (The aforementioned anticipatory bitching about the finale, aside.)

And while I'm not suggesting the original Punisher comics are bad, things are often adapted for live action because they just won't work as well in live action. Or they find a way to build on that source material to do something better.

Tony Stark revealing himself in 'Iron Man' isn't true to the comics. But it worked out so much better.

There's room in this world for different interpretations, rather than just copy/pasting the details.

Frank Castle is officially back, and the criminal underworld of New York should be absolutely terrified.

Basically a short movie, 40 something minutes. It's fine, not much of a plot, Frank Castle kills people and that's about it. I would like to see more style at least if there's no substance but again, the Punisher is a maniac that kills people wholesale so I guess it's thematically appropriate to be somewhat cheapish looking.
