  1. This year, I've managed to be on the wrong side of the Optus data breach, the Medicare/AHM data breach and more recently, the lastpass data breach. Some of them, ironically, aren't as bad as they could have been, since I have changed my name and legal gender since providing ID.

However, all of my transition surgeries covered by my healthcare are now out there on the darkweb somewhere. Not such an issue for me personally, because a point of concern for many stealth trans folk.

And then last of all, lastpass. Thankfully, my vault was secured with a strong password and 2FA, but still, it meant changing over my password manager to 1Password (which is so much nicer to use as it turns out), and changing all of the passwords at the important sites I use. At least I was able to take my time with that.

So, whatever else #2023 brings, I hope at least, that it doesn't bring more data breaches. (I know it will though)

  2. If there's one silver lining after the recent Optus and Medibank hacks here in Australia, then it's the fact that organisations seem to finally be putting a focus onto their security from the top down.
Today I had another great workshop with a new customer to assess their overall security and #cloudsecurity so they know what they need to improve on and invest in.

  3. Importantly the two pieces of personally identifiable information (financial info and password) that can be changed were not accessed. 🤨

Pity the ones you can't easily change were accessed... 🤦
