But wait, that's not all. I already knew the game had some frame pacing issues from #OptiScaler's log, but I thought it was just a matter of waiting out a newer version of Proton/Mesa/OptiScaler.
It turns out you can enable ray tracing and play the game with #Vulkan #FSR4 without freezes if you disable asynchronous-compute (in-game: "Present from compute"). I feel so stupid 🙄

I finally cracked it! Not ideal, but it's working. For more than a month on #CachyOS #Linux (RDNA3), Doom Eternal just froze on me after some time when I tried running it with #OptiScaler's #Vulkan #FSR4 hack. I thought I tried literally everything, but apparently you just have to disable ray tracing. Screenshots are showing the game running with (before it freezes) and without RT (not freezing).

Qué chulada. Están integrando #Proton / UMU con #OptiScaler.
Actualmente es fácil (relativamente) usar OptiScaler, pero ahora y dentro de poco va a ser algo casi trivial.

Este juego tiene para DLSS 3.5 y 4... pero para FSR solo tiene para la 3. Si tuviese la 3.1 no hubiese tenido que usar #Optiscaler. Por suerte Optiscaler va del diez.

#Optiscaler es la polla. Sin complicaciones tengo #FSR4 en #NFSUnbound que solo viene con FSR 2... y curiosamente trae DLSS 3 e incluso XeSS. Vaya maltrato... macho.

Thanks to the open source nature of AMD's FSR you can add it to any game that supports DLSS (or FSR 2 or XeSS). Just Install an app named "OptiScaler" and copy some support files into the Games directory. OptiScaler itself is Open-Source and works on Linux & Windows.
