Was having an issue with #Opengraph previews on #Faircamp even though opengraph.dev and opengraph.xyz both reported it as okay. Turns out the cert #Namecheap provided was giving a "trust anchor for certification path not found" error and switching to Let's Encrypt fixed it. Thanks to the #Signal debug log for identifying it.

I spent the last couple days working on adding https://standard.site support to my blog (https://blog.dwac.dev/). I think I've got it working, though TBH I'm not entirely sure I see the vision here.
All the data it requires is stuff that's already in `<meta>` tags or #OpenGraph, what exactly is the value of atproto here?
It seems like this just requires publishing atproto records for each document and then tools can index those records, but why not just index the #HTML page itself? Search engines already do this.
I can see some value in defining "canonical" #atproto records for a publication or document, but I'm not quite connecting the dots on where that's actually helpful.
Asking sites to publish an atproto record with each article just seems too difficult to scale at the ecosystem level IMHO.

Seems like #mastodon is suddenly really picky about generating link previews for one of my websites.
I (believe I) have all the correct #OpenGraph tags available and have appropriate access control headers in place... not sure what I'm missing.

So it turns out my site's previews have been borked for who knows how long due to me not understanding that #OpenGraph 's `og:url` is meant to be a unique ID, not just something you can set to your site's base URL and be done with it.
Because of that articles have had completely unrelated previews and that's not very potential-reader friendly.
Annoying to learn, but better late than never...

r6d8: Nach nem Lychee-URL-Check und der Migration von meinem lab-of-labs nach #codeberg waren alle 57 Links wieder ok. Danach hab ich mein #github #jekyll-script auf marked.min.js umgestellt. Somit entfällt der md -> html Build Step. Angenehm.
Mal schauen wie sich der #OpenGraph Header nun anfühlt.

Actually, these Open Graph Payment Links seem to be a recent addition to Open Graph. They seem to have been added on June 25th, 2025.

What do you think? It's less boring than the old one :blobcatwinktongue: No idea when or if #Fosstodon will pick up the new og:image for old posts (doubt it, due to caching). But at least I know it'll work with upcoming posts!

If #Mastodon is going to embed #OpenGraph images (sometimes?), it should show you a preview under the form as you're writing so you know when links you are posting are going to show them or not. Other #socialMedia sites have done this for years, and they let you decide whether or not you want that *before* you post. This game of having to post before you can see what it's going to look like is just bad user-experience.
