    #ocis #opencloud

  3. @OpenCloud

    Congratulations. This is another major step forward in the battle to tame the EU AI Act Compliance beast. Accountable Hardware meets sovereign Cloud.

    We should have a chat (soon) about structured indexing of large unstructured datasets. I have some novel. and very fast, tools under development right now.

  4. Getting undiagnosable #OwnCloud #oCIS 500 errors, when uploading with their sync client:

    Sep 14 14:12:20 owncloud docker-compose[113623]: ocis_1 | {"level":"error","service":"storage-users","pkg":"rhttp","pid":1,"request-id":"9190a9fe1d69/mWuUc6lfUZ-000388","error":"checksum mismatch","time":"2025-09-14T14:12:20+02:00","message":"failed to update existing node"}

    Great fun.

  6. @niklaskorz @notthebee Yes, I would highly recommend to use #OpenCloud instead of #oCIS. The core developers of the latter have switched to work at @heinleinsupport for the development of the fork. From what I'm hearing OpenCloud is set up for a much better future compared to oCIS.

  8. @preya @heinleinsupport @OpenTalkMeeting @mailbox_org You are missing #OpenCloud which is now a fork of #ownCloud #oCIS maintained by #heinlein.

    But I agree it would be nice to see those services combined under one hood. But not like #Nextcloud does. I'd like to see separate services with strong APIs, that can be run side by side as needed but sharing a common UI so the user won't notice the integration.

    Something like a next-level #openDesk...

  10. @xyhhx I depends what you need, but yeah. Owncloud's #ocis was a breeze to install, but it is only for file sharing and uses its own filesystem, but it is solid, encrypted and very light weight!

  11. TIL you can right click a Firefox download and get its url, so I could get at the equivalent #ocis public link, and, curiously, it does not include the content-disposition, but it does correctly give the content-type as text/html and, unlike #nextcloud, works in all browsers.

  12. @rakekniven thanks for testing!

    Was that using the #Nextcloud link? (nas) or was that the #OCIS link? (oc)

    Also, using mobile? I found after the fix the oc.teledyn link would work fine on mobile, which of course gets me back in 'business', but NC was still a 7k txt file when I tested it; if you're also on mobile, perhaps Firefox cached something on mine, who knows, but it means it might be all clear on NC too!

  13. And, sadly for #Nextcloud but a hat tip for #OCIS, the munged HTML fix is only for the latter, the Nextcloud link still sends the 7k rendered text 😞 but now I have two sets of headers I can compare, one of which works! 😊

  14. @preya

    Oh man… this happens way too often: I solve the proxy certificates, realize old links are invalid so re-upload and get a challenge page, but it looks hopeful, right name 20k…

    But what #ocis sends me is the useless 7k text RENDER of the html 😱

    On desktop Linux, the link gives the true file, just as it does now with #nextcloud — is Android itself changing the file to text?

    OK. Back to square one…

  15. @preya

    Well… after two hours I've been unable to find the incantation to make #ocis work with #LetsEncrypt. Apache has the SSLProxyengine on, but OCIS only says "bad certificate". I tried adding

    PROXY_TRANSPORT_TLS_CERT=/etc/letsencrypt/live/HOST/cert.pem
    PROXY_TRANSPORT_TLS_KEY=/etc/letsencrypt/live/HOST/privkey.pem

    but logs say privkey can't be read, because it is root-only, as a key should be, and ocis is running as www-data, as it should be. Also tried replacing ocis/idp/private-key.pem 😫

  16. @preya

    I will keep #ocis if I can get it setup https, because what it does do, it does very well.

    My core review is it is a great way to share, a bad way to store. But if everything is given an expiry, it's only just passin' through, who cares what it's name was!
