Spotted these flood level indicators on the wall of a pub in Newburn. Formerly "The Boathouse", it's now "Branzino"... a rather nice Italian restaurant, if you happen to be passing! 😋🍕

In 2020, after #Newburn, AL (a town that is 80% black) elects its first black mayor, the white council secretly reinstates its white mayor. SCOTUS may turn a blind eye but #racism and the suppression of #votingrights is very real today. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/patrick-braxton-black-man-says-he-was-elected-mayor-of-newbern-alabama/

Yesterday I started #reading the #GraphicNovel "Newburn," written by Chip #Zdarsky, with art by Jacob Phillips.
Early impressions...
Jacob Phillips' art looks a lot like his father Sean's. Jacob's isn't as good yet, but he is good.
The writing is just ok. Clunky expository dialog bums me out, but to be fair I know Zdarsky has to cover a lot of ground quickly.
Overall: feels like a less polished Ed Brubaker/Sean Phillips book. -
