Just discovered I still had a Twitter account from over a decade ago that I never used, and forgot to delete. Logged in to delete it. Timeline showed posts of:
1. How undocumented immigrants should be deported even if they've been in the states for decades and are contributing to society. (Their words)
2. Public broadcaster is "fake news"
3. Palestine activists are "pro-Hamas thugs" in league with Mamdani.
4. A misleading claim that Starbucks is banning pets to become halal certified (they're not)
5. A fake AI video of people plunging to their deaths after a swimming pool falls off a skyscraper
6. Post from Elon (who I never followed)
7. So. Much. Nazi. Stuff.This was all just in the first few posts I saw. The place is basically Truth Social now.

For en stund siden sendte jeg mail til @LOiO for å gi beskjed om hvor problematisk det er at FOR fikk delta i 1. mai-arrangementet i fjor, og be dem unngå det i år + utforme retningslinjer for å hindre slikt.
Jeg satte stor pris på å få svar fra lokallagets leder! Men det er urovekkende at hun ikke var klar over at FOR eksisterer for å styrke Russlands angrepskrig på Ukraina (redusere Norges støtte til Ukraina), og ikke forstod det etter å ha lest nettsiden.

Dear open registration servers, each day so far this week, I've opened my Mastodon client, only to see slurs, swastikas, and death threat videos of "me" being hanged.
This is the Nazi bar problem. They're standing on the curb and your doors are wide open. Sure, you're kicking them out after they walk in and punch a few customers, but is that really how you want your bar to be known? As the place that apologizes *after* the Nazi assaults you?
With the current US election results rolling in, it looks like we're in for another predictable wave of butthurt GravySeals aching to own the libs in a sad attempt to bring meaning to their poor little wannabe white power lives.
It's time to close registrations and step up moderation to protect the communities you helped grow.

Sexism is chasing women off Fedi.Do you want another incel white boys club like Twitter? Because inaction is how you get there.

I've never been a fan of the wolves/sheep metaphor, because "sheep" is so often used as an insult for those who are either not violent enough or not contrarian enough for the speaker. (No, not even when it includes sheepdogs protecting the sheep from the wolves, because it's still being used to express contempt for the "sheep.")
But the post here is still a good round up of several ways people have tried to explain that no, if you accept both the attackers and their targets, you're de-facto choosing the attackers over their targets, including the classic #ParadoxOfTolerance and the #NaziBar analogy along with the one partially quoted below.

Dorsey didn't just roll in his stake in Twitter into Musk's acquisition. He instigated the whole thing, and not just to spite the board that kicked him out. He wanted it to become a #NaziBar and resented people like Vijaya Gadde, Del Harvey, and Yoel Roth who stood in the way.

It is bad enough it is a #NaziBar but it is also a meeting place to organize #NaziSport, #NaziTeaching, #NaziChurch, #NaziCooking, #NaziScience, and any other aspect of society needed to control so-as to control the entire culture.The comparison to a nation is very weak. You can leave one bar and find another or drink in the back yard with your friends. It is not like you chose where you first had citizenship and leaving is not as simple as leaving a bar.
