Then there's Riverbend -- the foolish plan to dump 660 houses in a known flood zone. But it'll be O'K... Napier Mayor Kirsten Wise "is confident the flood risk can be mitigated".
Some of our cities are being led by fools.

In Napier, a developer wants to build 660 "affordable" houses in a flood-prone area on Riverbend Road. This 2022 photo shows the flooded site (in the foreground) which is deeper than adjacent properties.
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council has voted unanimously to exclude Riverbend Road from future development due to severe flood risk.
However Napier and Hastings councils could still approve the development.
