#Science thrives on ideas โ€“ and on people who promote them. The #MPL support association is committed to strengthening #research and young talents.

On November 28, the association invites you to a public event at #MPZPM that offers insights into research, laboratories, and networks.

Sounds interesting? Register by November 19 by emailing [email protected] to attend the event.

  3. After an unforgettable #NdW25 at #MPL and #MPZPM, weโ€™re reliving the memories. It was a night full of curious questions, and insights into current #research projects โ€“ a night where #science came to life.

Our aftermovie shows some impressions of this special night: from exciting demonstrations and inspiring conversations to curious glances into our laboratories.

  4. Division Jochen Guck โ€œCell #physicsโ€

With optical diffraction tomography (ODT) scientists can quantify mass density distribution. The technique reveals details in each individual cell, such as nuclei, nucleoli, and mitochondria. Neighboring cells link โ€˜handsโ€™ โ€“ their membranes and filopodia. Scientists at #MPZPM and #MPL have developed novel #microscopy techniques to study the mass density changes of cells under various conditions.

  5. Thank you! New visitor record at our locations during #NdW25

2,567 science enthusiasts learned about #research at #MPL and #MPZPM. More than 150 employees were on hand to give our visitors an understanding of our research into the interaction between #light and #matter & #science at the interface between #physics & #medicine.

We would like to say THANK YOU for this wonderful night of science! More impressions will be available on mpl.mpg.de/ soon.

  7. The flags are flying: Only two more days!

Anticipation for #NdW25 is growing โ€“ and here at #MPL & #MPZPM, we are busy setting up and testing everything to ensure it is ready and runs smoothly when we open our doors on Saturday.

We look forward to diving into the world of the #science of light and the connection between #physics and #medicine together with you. Come by, be inspired, and experience #research up close!

  9. Preparations for #NdW25 are in full swing!

Soon, there will be a unique opportunity to get up close with researchers: the Long Night of Sciences. Preparations are already in full swing.

The press conference will take place at our #MPZPM. Representatives of the organizer Kulturidee and communicators from the participating universities and colleges @FAU, UTN, and TH Nรผrnberg recently met to clarify the last remaining questions.

  10. Weโ€™re in! โ€“ The Long Night of Science 2025

Weโ€™re participating in #NdW25 in the International Year of Quantum Science 2025 with double the energy: both at #MPL and #MPZPM, weโ€™re opening our (laboratory) doors and letting anyone interested experience research up close. Look over the shoulders of our scientists and find out firsthand how the knowledge of tomorrow is created!

  11. Neighborhood dispute among cells: Whoever successfully transmits force wins

Cells constantly compete, eliminating weaker ones to maintain tissue health. Researchers from #MPZPM, #InstitutJacquesMonod and #NielsBohrInstitute discovered a new strategy in mechanical cell competition: the ability to transmit force determines the winner. Their findings challenge classical views on #CellCompetition.

  12. The Importance of Girls' Day for the Future of Science!

Girls' Day is a valuable opportunity to inspire girls to explore #science and technology. As a #research institute, we show them that women play a vital role in science. Through hands-on experiences and interaction with female researchers, we break down stereotypes and spark curiosityโ€”because diversity in research drives innovation!
