Lighting in The Ren is not your friend. Make sure your subject isn’t backlit, if they are, force flash and pray.
If you’re shooting #Polaroid, try setting your exposure one step light, two steps in dark spaces. DO NOT photograph backlit subjects.

Bryce the #inflatable #manticore, 4m from grumpy snoot to swishy tail tuft. He's about midway between the Zenith and Protozenith in height, so inconveniently large, but not overwhelmingly so.

Manuf. by ShunyuHe started as a set of spare parts, specifically an unused design for a modernized Lionel toy, an unfinished Blazehowl, and an incomplete gargoyle.
The idea was to use him as a sacrificial test design to test manufacturer capabilities but it's hard for me not to get attached to my designs...
Bryce will be at the "Catz: A Feline Frolic" panel at #MotorCityFurryCon and at the #AnthrOhio inflatables Panel if that's approved...and might pop up in other places too, logistics permitting. So you'll be able to squish that big cat (or try to) in the not too distant future.
The current US geopolitical idiotism does not bode well for the future of inflatable creatures, though. The utahraptor or komodo dragon/megalania might be the last things to make it across the Pacific, and there's not much hope of publicly running the dinosaur with the upcoming trade mess.
I'm not sure if the necrotic object is going to chicken out like usual (but the tariffs are still up), or if the Reality Distortion Field is strong enough to result in the US cheerfully marching into a pointless war on its former allies once the winter ice clears. (Or Pacific tensions...)

It looks like the inflatables panel for #MotorCityFurryCon 2026 in February didn’t make the cut. The demand for Main Events was too high.
Retro Tech and Catz are still on, and I’ll find a way to bring *something* for the Macro/Micro peeps and the feline meetup if enough space can be found.

Oh yes so that severe weather yesterday? I was at #MotorCityFurryCon and was among the people huddling in the Main Ballroom, avoiding being underneath the chandeliers.
Fortunately it was after closing ceremonies and a lot of people had left early to avoid the weather altogether, but everyone was able to fit in and so far as I know came through fine weather-wise.

Home from #MotorCityFurryCon, starting unload. It was okay this year. Schedule was a bit thin and a lot of friends couldn’t make it but at least the inflatables panel turned out okay and I got to do a bit of fursuiting.

Feels like we have a slight drought of smaller panels at #MotorCityFurryCon this year. It doesn’t help that the usual band of regulars couldn’t make it for a dozen different reasons…

With my experience at #GetOutTheFloat, I have decided to write up a procedures document for #inflatable panels at #furry conventions, and hammered out a draft on the flight between PDX and MSP. It should see its first field tests next month at #FurnalEquinox and #MotorCityFurryCon.
