  1. @davidho 🤣 A protest on the streets: moths, ants, birds, and small mammals hold signs: Why do they never ask us (if we are conscient)?

  2. 📣 New paper: Designing for biodiversity data in place: Species, encounters, and interfaces

    This open access paper presents our work developing ALA Lens for the Atlas of Living Australia.

    It shows how conventional interfaces can hide the taxonomic and spatial diversity that matters in biodiversity data, and how Lens reveals the relationships between species, people, and place.

    Co-authored with my @ANUResearch colleague Adrian Mackenzie and ALA collaborators Martin Westgate and Kylie Morrow 🙏

    Just out in People and Nature journal, part of a special collection on the "Digital Dimensions of Nature Recovery"

    sound, listening and performance as ways of thinking with territory.
    non-anthropocentric perspectives, infrastructures, measurement, and resistant environments.
    psychogeography, cultural studies, and the arts as ways of attending — including alternative mappings and cartographies.

  9. More than Human: Making with the Living World at the Design Museum is also worth seeing.

    designmuseum.org/exhibitions/m

    But a quick heads-up: the subtitle is more accurate than the title. It’s really about making WITH the nonhuman - plants, animals, ecosystems - not BY the more-than-human. The human still takes centre stage. A missed opportunity, perhaps, to explore what truly more-than- or other-than-human design can look like.

    In case you need some #goodNews: Blobs are sure to take over the world (well, my hypothesis). Thanks to the CNRS and a #citizenScience project, they are already living in countless children's bedrooms. 🤫 Listen to a blob: youtube.com/watch?v=Dwcx6yCdDE8

  13. A friend of mine just encouraged me to make a submission to this upcoming Anthology on the theme of Neurodiversity and the More-Than-Human.

    My research is looking at experimental new ways of collaborating that can help our communities to move beyond conflict and into collective decision making by reframing how we interact (it involves basic objects on a table that folkls push around like a board game but its not a board game its a new toolkit). {I'll explain it better another time 😋}

    Posting this here for accountability for future me, and maybe you know someone who would be interested in this too.

    Submissions due: 31 August 2025.
