@davidho 🤣 A protest on the streets: moths, ants, birds, and small mammals hold signs: Why do they never ask us (if we are conscient)?

📣 New paper: Designing for biodiversity data in place: Species, encounters, and interfaces
This open access paper presents our work developing ALA Lens for the Atlas of Living Australia.
It shows how conventional interfaces can hide the taxonomic and spatial diversity that matters in biodiversity data, and how Lens reveals the relationships between species, people, and place.
Co-authored with my @ANUResearch colleague Adrian Mackenzie and ALA collaborators Martin Westgate and Kylie Morrow 🙏
Just out in People and Nature journal, part of a special collection on the "Digital Dimensions of Nature Recovery"

I was outside in the oven. The plants that had damaged leaves because of very late frosts, have now the rest of their leaves burnt by the extreme heat in France. Just for changing the perspective from #anthropocentrism to the #moreThanHuman world.

#TNOCEssay What if the way forward is also a way back—to sensing, to listening, to remembering we are part of the living world?
In this 3-part #TNOCessay, Yasuhiro Kobayashi (Tokyo, Japan) explores ryuiki—a way of knowing where inner and outer worlds flow as one.

Can art help build community and a sense of belonging in a new neighborhood—among people and the more‑than‑human life around us? 🐦⬛
When the snow melts and late summer arrives, we’ll be creating art with the local community of Hyllegaard Høje, Sjælland, Denmark, in preparation for our participation in the Positive Traces Festival, August 2026.

hello mastodon —
sound, listening and performance as ways of thinking with territory.
non-anthropocentric perspectives, infrastructures, measurement, and resistant environments.
psychogeography, cultural studies, and the arts as ways of attending — including alternative mappings and cartographies.
photography as field note. sound as method.
slow conversations welcome.#SoundStudies #SoundArt #Listening
