It’s ridiculous that drivers have to put up with this kind of nonsense for completely ill-conceived ‘safety’ features. The #EU needs to remove this requirement. They have become actual #safety detractors as they cause major distraction. Everything was brought into law without any major public discussion.

I can only guess #Israel company #MobileEye lobbied heavily for this, as they have a virtual monopoly on several aspects.

Getting more and more pissed off with modern #cars and the beeps that the #EU in all its wisdom has forced on us. I’m more distracted by the stupid beeps and the steering wheel fighting with me than anything else.

Is there evidence that these actually improve safety? Or are they just neatly lobbied by Israeli company #MobileEye (who seems to have an almost monopoly on this) to get all the manufacturers to cough up the money to pay the licenses?

‘Driver Alertness’ my ass.

WTF, in 2026 the driver drowsiness monitoring will be a compulsory feature in the #EU. That system is nowhere near reliable enough or arguably even useful (as if I don’t know myself when I’m drowsy). It’s a distraction to driving, so actually reduces safety!

I have a feeling #MobileEye / #SmartEye is behind all of this regulation through some heavy lobbying, as they are the main beneficiaries.

We need this nagging to stop. This is crazy.
