i honestly can't sing the praises of mistserver enough as a discord replacement from the streaming angle, at least 1:1 with another person (alongside using signal for voice/video/chat)
@scarlet_somnus was streaming via obs using the whip protocol to my server from the UK (my server is sitting on my desk in minnesota) and we were consistently at less than 1 second of latency with a good quality, stable stream

Finally figured out what I needed for my MistServer multi-stream setup. I was having issues streaming HEVC and also transcoding lower bitrate but I have solved those issues! I will be testing HEVC streaming on YouTube soon (maybe tonight), and the transcoding for Twitch. I don't have plans to self-host with owncast at the moment, forgive me.

So I was involved in the technical bits of a livestream last night. For those interested I ran a cloud based streaming server (Mist Server) to accept an SRT stream because the internet connection there is terrible, and then forwarded that stream to youtube....

Aujourd'hui je tombe sur le site web de #mistserver et découvre que la version #linux 3.1 est devenue complément #opensource. Mais quel bonheur, c'est super pratique pour les rebonds vidéo et enregistrements et gestion des protocoles vidéos. C'est très pratique pour diffusion en parallèle sur #peeertube et autre outils des #gafam en même temps.
