  1. @FaithfullJohn I think this is the first of this kind of rock that has been abraded, but the SuperCam instrument that does both Raman and LIBS from a distance may have analyzed other similar rocks in the past. SHERLOC-ACI also does Raman from a close range, but I can't recall it examining a similar rock before.

About 6 months after the operation, the detailed results of the analyses per target are published on the #Mars2020 Analyst's Notebook (go to the specific sol):

  6. As if to aid speculation, #Perseverance's team is building a dedicated panorama of this #JezeroBrightRocks. Here it is, quickly composed as more images are coming in.

  11. My hunch is that we'll be talking a lot about this #JezeroBrightRock in the near future, so here are a few more shots (the second one is a stereogram) of the abraded spot.

  16. @PaulHammond51 reminds me that today is the 5th anniversary of #Perseverance landing on the surface of #Mars, hanging under the #SkyCrane as seen in this #OutOfThisWorld image it captured the moment the umbilical cord connecting them was cut, and the Sky Crane veered off to a heroic crash about 900m NW.

  17. Now that they're all "Ingenuity final resting place", what will be the name of that spot?

I mean in the tradition of calling Pathfinder the Carl Sagan Memorial Station.

    Come on, who's next?

  18. Patron edition of my little Ingenuity print, complete with label stamp in the style of the "NASA worm font." #mars #nasa #ingenuityhelicopter #mars2020 #space #art #printmaking

#Mars2020
