When #Democrats were preparing to impeach #MafiaDon the first time around in late 2019, I wrote an Op/Ed noting that they needed to include EVERY crime he had committed those 3 years (and the list was long) rather than just his attempt to extort Zelensky.People NEEDED to see the lengthy laundry list of crimes he had committed while in office.
They did just as expected, his criminal history dismissed, and here we are today.
Trump 2.0 makes #Watergate look like a prank phone call.

There's a lot worth considering in this. As a Roger Kaufman acolyte in my approach to ethical strategy, I *do* get shaming the "greenwashers," "pinkwashers," and other "ethics washers" who adopt a veneer, or potemkin ethics (often framed in legalisms or compliance terms) to reap the PR benefit of "looking ethical" while continuing an extractive/exploitative business model that subtracts value from our shared society and delivers it as profits and continuous growth to their shareholders. There IS a place for that shaming.
But--in #MafiaDon's America more than ever--I believe Alison Taylor has a point that needs to be showing us, at a minimum, that that place IS SMALLER, at least for the moment. Calling out hypocrisy is most important when virtue is a trend: strategically, it represents cleaning up around the edges, as the movement consolidates its influence.
In times like today, when VICE AND SHAMELESSNESS are the trend as Alison notes, it is far more important to focus our efforts--and our boycotts--on calling out EVIL, and using the full spectrum of instruments of power (negotiations, protests/shaming, boycotts, and for those willing to cross the line and accept the consequences--like the Palestine Action activists in the UK--perhaps even sabotage/vandalism, roughly corresponding to states' Diplomatic, Information, Economic, and Military instruments of power, respectively) to take the fight directly to the enemy.
This lesson was learned by the BDS Movement in Palestine, as momentum grew to use boycotts and economic power against #IsraelAtWarCrimes: supporters started wanting to boycott EVERYBODY doing business in or with Israel--which inevitably diluted the movement's power as groups and individuals who wanted to support the effort would end up boycotting DIFFERENT COMPANIES, making the impact on any one offender minimal (and also alienating hypocrites who might truly have THOUGHT OF THEMSELVES as friends--just ones who were protecting their own interests as well--if they got caught in the economic blast radius). So the BDS Movement started PUTTING OUT A LIST of the worst documented offenders, to FOCUS that impact instead.
In Islam, it's also seen in the Seerah of the Prophet, in his treatment of the Hypocrites who pretended to be believers while they continued in their ways in private. It's important to recognize from the beginning that hypocrites are not true friends--because they cannot be counted on NOT TO BETRAY us, the minute their real interests are threatened--but for now at least we must focus our energy on the forces who are ACTIVELY TRYING TO EXTERMINATE us.
