🐪🚀 Llama.cpp: Because nothing says "cutting-edge AI" like running everything on a dusty old laptop from 2010. 🤖💾 Forget the cloud, the future is apparently local... as in, locally outdated. 🖥️🔧

🎉 Oh, joy! Let's run a behemoth #LLM on your fancy M1 Mac 🍏 because clearly, your local coffee shop WiFi wasn't already slow enough. Enjoy deciphering #jargon like "NEON kernels" and "MetalMPS compute" while pretending you actually needed an "OpenAI-compatible API server" for your homemade #chatbot 🤖.

An interesting video by Rick Beato (yeah, the nerdy music theory youtuber 😍 ) where he compares the future of "AI" to the failure of the music industry in the early 2000's.
He doesn't quite connect all dots, these #LLM's he downloads from #huggingface on his #LocalComputing gear, they are only "free" because somebody is positioning to somehow make a return later on.
But his memory of past disruptions points to how these algos are not a settled business model. Not yet.

Welcome back to local computing!
Finally, a machine which is ready for more web applications. Why do optimisation when you have power?🔥 512GB RAM – Never close a tab again
🤖 AI training lab – While scrolling memes
☸️ Full Company Kubernetes cluster – In a single terminal
🎮 Max settings gaming – While compiling the Linux kernel
🪟 Every Windows version at once – Just because
The cloud? Cute. This machine laughs at it. 💾🚫☁️#MacStudio #M3Ultra #LocalComputing #programming #coding #softwareDevelopment

This report from Denmark came across my desk(top) today: https://www.english.digmin.dk/Media/638736628110392217/The%20role%20of%20big%20tech%20as%20digital%20infrastructure.pdf
I wonder when NZ gov't will come to its senses about this, especially given that we're founding members of the Digital Nations Charter (which Denmark subsequently joined): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Nations - note the core principles.
Seems like now might be a good time to be thinking of decolonising our digital infrastructure and restoring our digital sovereignty.

I am an android user. Is there any software on there for making local lists and notes ? What I mean is software that is not storing things in its own cloud resources or straight up pinging the mother ship every minute with unknown packets ?
Local software is what we need. Software that is not syphoning off our data.
