This album was my introduction to Peter Erskine. I would replay the last minute of this track over and over. Nothing really crazy - I just like the way he constructed it.

Meat Loaf - Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through

Remember everything that I told you
And I'm telling you again that it's true
You're never alone cause you can put on the 'phones
And let the drummer tell your heart what to do
    ...
The beat is yours forever (The beat is yours forever)
The beat is always true (True)
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through for you

  5. The first version of this I ever heard was the Benny Goodman version (via the movie about him). Gene Krupa's playing stood out as super fun and creative, even to little kid me.

Then I discovered it was actually written by Louis Prima, so that's the one I usually listen to. James Horner's version on the Swing Kids OST is also great.

I usually post a #CountryMusic tune that fits the theme, but drums rarely dominate in that genre. Therefore, I'll suggest a great tune from my Around The World playlist. It definitely has some drums.

Going to finish up with a song *about* drums this time.

Jon Bon Jovi - Bang A Drum

    Bang a drum for tomorrow
Bang a drum for the past
Bang a drum for the heroes
    That won't come back
Bang a drum for the promise
Bang a drum for the lies
Bang a drum for the lovers
    And the tears they've cried
Bang a drum bang it loudly
Or as soft as you need
But as long as my heart keeps on bangin'
I got a reason to believe

    Cherish The day

There's never a bad time to post this clip, the drum beat alone is more than enough to qualify.

  15. Billy Cobham
    Heather

This track from drummer Billy Cobham's 1974 album Crosswinds is one of the most tastiest fusion tracks of the early 70s.

  16. #JukeboxFridayNight theme is 'Let There Be Drums'. Songs or music about drums or drummers. My pick is AC/DC Back in Black with Phil Rudd on the drums. He made this song a great classic.

  17. Here's #Minuit, NZ's fantastic drum and base and weird band, with one of their early hits, "Except You". Vocalist Ruth Carr started out singing and playing drums, while they shifted to electronic drums for much of Minuit's music.

I read on Wikipedia that this strange carnival themed video was made by their flatmate ALyx Duncan.

  18. John Martin
The Best Song in the World

I created this video for my old friend and brilliant drummer John Martin during the #Covid lockdown period in #NewZealand. He sent me this track sometime in 2020 and asked if I could create a video for it. Long story short I asked him to set up his phone in front of a single colour background and shoot various versions of him singing the song and I would create a video using his footage animated with popular and relevant #memes

For anyone wondering, the drums relevance is that John is a very fine drummer as well as singer.

  19. Ok one more from me.

Steve Gadd again, playing on Paul Simon's song, Late In the Evening.

This drum beat is called a Mozambique. Some cool afro-cuban roots being played with two sticks in each hand. Great fun!
