I have always thought of minor scale as WHWWHWW, but today while watching this YouTube video I just realized all one need to do is to take 3rd, 6th and 7th a half step flat!

There is nothing wrong with the classic method, but this would have saved me a lot of time when I was trying to use pen and paper for learning major and minor scales.

Progress report on me trying to learn tracker music

For a while BotB has been doing a challenge to represent planets, whether astronomically or mythologically via music. It pushed me to try out trackers that intimidated me. I got to learn how to use:

Had a super productive week: finally submitted 5 puzzles to a podcast I listen to. First time I’ve ever sent anything in, excited to see if they get featured.

Still grinding away at finger whistling (so much harder than expected. I've watched a dozen tutorials, and still can't do it!), and starting to tackle the Irish tin whistle too. Haven’t picked my first song yet. Any suggestions?

Here's another animal, something special and different. I'm super excited about this one! It's my first musical instrument, and I'm assuming a sampler would be the most straightforward and playful way to get started. It'll probably take a while before I produce any decent tracks anyway. @N3VEM #Uke is a good starting instrument to lead into #guitar: it has the same general principle, but the neck is smaller, so it's easier to work with. And when they've gotten some music concepts under their belt, they'll see resemblances between some of the chords on a uke and the ones on a guitar. And once they learn the acoustic guitar, the electric amounts to basically the same concept, just with a cord sticking out of it. (I kinda went about it all sideways--I learned some basic guitar first before taking up the uke, and I think it was actually after I started playing uke that I looked at an electric for the first time. Your kiddo's got the right idea if you ask me.
