I checked multiple artists on #LastFm and all of the are dropping in scrobbles since the end of July by a lot (80%)

I noticed that many artists on Last.fm seem to have lost over half their popularity. 📉
Seems like they are losing a lot of scrobbles from Spotify :spotify:, who now have chosen to silently disconnect users every 6 months. 💀
So yeah, if you are Spotify × Last.fm user, then you might want to check your profile is still linked:

You have been the one for meJoined on December 2006. Left on July 2026. “It’s been 20 years and I still remember” the small number of friends, the activity feed and the field “Relationship Status”. Was “The Facebook” a ship of dreams? Well, many people found their significant other there.
Facebook was the one for me – I never got that much into the Instagram, Twitter or Tik-Tok. Most of all, I was falling in and out of love there, good memories.
How did we get here? Today I read in the DuckDuckGo Privacy Weekly newsletter:
Meta agreed to pay up to $17.1 billion over the next decade to settle a landmark child safety lawsuit brought by 29 state attorneys general; it’s now the largest state consumer-protection settlement outside of the tobacco settlements of the 1990s. The suit alleged Meta intentionally designed Instagram with addictive features that harmed younger users, while misleading the public about the platform’s safety.

The settlement is part of a growing wave of Big Tech accountability: in the past four years alone, Meta, Google, and TikTok have collectively paid billions to settle privacy and child safety cases.I hope people understand that there are no money in the world that could “pay” the karma. This is pretty serious. Since this “children vs. social” topic is flying around, I was a bit envy and was asking myself – who thought about the children who were online back in the 90s? WHO was not online back then and WHO was? Technology is not bad, screens are not bad, but there could be bad and greedy (for money and data) people crafting the tools and the content. I do even feel ashamed that I am part of this industry. A technical achievement, becomes an advertising agency… Complete Tragedy! Could I take some responsibility and say, “Please, accept our apologies for all the evil.” This happened, because there was a sentence “Don’t be evil!” which even the little children know from the stove that it means “BE evil!”. Since I stopped scrolling in Facebook, I feel like I woke up. Got back to the retro of Internetting. Started some new personal projects, including my Omnia which I proudly decided to host at Vivaldi.net. However, today I received a thought – did I left Facebook by choice or Facebook pushed me away? After everything it knows about me… 20 years. Am I sad as a user or disappointed as an artechie woman?
