This week was a blast in terms of #Kendo.
I attended the #TenguCup2026 hosted in #Frankfurt.
The competition was as always very challenging 💪
But not only that I finally had the chance, after postponing too many times, to take the exam for the 2. #Kyu.

I take away lots of good experiences from this and look forward to preparing myself for my final Kyu exam.

Heute bei meinem ersten #Judo-Turnier seit über 20 Jahren mitgemacht. 🥋
War eine gute Erfahrung - auch wenn kein Sieg für mich dabei war. Vielen Dank und Gratulation an meine Judo-Partner. Ihr habt gut und fair gekämpft und verdient gewonnen. 😀 Am Ende gab es trotzdem einen kleinen Pokal für mich und meine Vereinskollegin.

the term citrus grades for the 5th, 4th and 3rd #Kyu with the belt colours lemon yellow, orange orange and lime green has made it into the official course report on Facebook.
Well, it says citrus corner for the side of the mat where the kyu kneel down, but still.

I think citrus grade is more likeable and sounds fresher than simply ‘beginner’

Treenejä vetää seurassa kendon puolella pääsääntöisesti Tuomas Koskinen 4. dan ja Markus Ojala 4. dan. Jos ja kun kumpikaan ei ole paikalla, niin vetovastuuta paikkaa Joni Vuorenmaa 4. dan tai Jouni Haapamäki 4. dan. Toki, ajan kanssa treenien vetovastuuta kierrätetään, mutta tuo on ajankohtaista tyypillisesti 1. danin kieppeillä. Kendossa on tasojärjestelmä samaan tapaan kuin monessa muussakin japanilaisessa kamppailulajissa, alempia kyu-asteita on 6.-1. kyu, ylempiä vyöarvoja on sitten 1.-8. dan. Kyu-arvot ovat kansallisia, dan-arvot ovat kansainvälisiä. Euroopan kendoliitto ylläpitää jäsenliittojensa harrastajien yhtenäistä dan-tietokantaa, josta voi käydä tarkistamassa, koska ohjaajan tasokoe on hyväksytysti suoritettu. Allekirjoittaneen tiedot käymällä https://www.ekf-eu.com/index.php?page=person-grades ja lisäämällä Family Name kohtaan Ojala. Tuolta saa tiedon, että vyöarvo on suoritettu 20.6.2021, ja näin ollen mahdollisuus kokeilla 5. danin koetta täyttyy sitten kesäkuussa 2025. Tasokokeiden välinen aika määrittyy yhteisten sääntöjen mukaan.

Meidän seurassa harjoitellaan Muso Shinden Ryu iaidoa ja ohjauksesta vastaa pääsääntöisesti Sampsa Pesonen, 6. dan iaido, kendo 1. dan. Seurassa harjoiteltava iaidosta ja taustoista voi lukea lisää Suomen Muso Shinden Ryu ry:n kotisivuilta osoitteesta https://musoshindenryu.fi
