@benlikestocode That song is solid. I have such strong memories from music, e.g. #ModestMouse always reminds me of the room where I tutored kids for #Kumon when I was in high school.

Fa alguns anys,(tenia 41anys)em vaig apuntar a #Kumon.Sistema de repetició. Sense vergonya, anava a classe amb nens petits. Comences per les sumes i vas pujant de nivells.

Jeff "never puts away anything, especially oven mitts" Cliff, Bringer of Nightmares 🦝🐙 🇱🇧🧯 🇨🇦 @[email protected] ·To blow my own horn here: if you know someone who has kids and a little bit of $ - Confederation Kumon is still taking new students. There is little to no human contact involved since it is a mostly self-directed learning program as far as social distancing goes it's probably fine.
How does Kumon work? Your child will get homework every day for the duration of the pandemic (math or english/eading). After an assessment test your child will be given a more or less custom learning plan to increase their skill from where they are to where they could be. I have seen children in our class 5 or 6 years ahead of where the Saskatchewan curriculum. The longer your child stays with Kumon the further they can be expected to get.
This gets you a variety of benefits:
#1 Your child will continue to learn math / use their brain throughout the pandemic while their classmates play video games or watch netflix or whatever
#2 It gives you/your child something to do/focus on
#3 It provides a degree of regularity in your/their life, which you can build a schedule around, similar to school but entirely at home.
It isn't free, and it's better if you can continue longer term (think of it like going to the gym - if you only do it for a month it won't do much).
I'm pretty sure if more parents knew that Kumon existed we'd have more people interested in signing up their children.
