The next aboombong release was much less noisy than the previous albums, but actually flowed nicely from the ambient track that ended Amnemonic. Atrophic took advantage of the new #bandcamp policy allowing for tracks up to one hour. Like all of my albums, that gave me an experimental goal - could I make a track that long that I liked? Taking cues from Klaus Schulze and others I set out to improvise around sequencers. The track was done live for each instrument then mixed and edited to create the final. The one hour of playing à wooden-headed dumbek was an experience. The pain may have helped get me in the right trance state for the rest.

Vocalist of the German #KosmicheMusik band Amon Düül II - as well as regularly appearing on Popol Vuh albums. I would suggest Renate's vocal style is a direct reaction to Schlager and Western popular music in the 60s and 70s. With little consideration of conventional singing style, her singing in Amon Düül II was a cosmic rocket into the heart of an alternate dimension. Her work with Popol Vuh is also consistently amazing - a textural compliment as well as contrast to the #ambient #psychedelic #drone of the band.
