My #Koodo prepaid plan renewed today. It comes with 30 GB for a year. Last year I used only a few GB. But I get a text alert this morning saying I used up 90% of my base plan. I *had* allowed a few more apps to use cellular data since I'm using so little so I was wondering which app was chewing up the data. None of them. The usage stats weren't much different than what I had before I enabled them. It's just a bug in Koodo's system. I can't be the first person in this situation. Do they not test?

I returned from an 8,436 km driving trip and boy, do I have a lot to say about the suitability of Apple and Google Maps.
I may get around to documenting that, but for an appetizer, even though I meticulously downloaded offline maps for Apple Maps, it often failed to use them and used cellular data instead costing me almost 2 GB of data. Since I pay a massive $30/GB with the Koodo telecartel, yeah, I got hosed. Thanks, Apple.

That’s only a slightly better rate than the prepaid plan of $15/mon for unlimited text + $30/600 min + $30/GB I pay to Koodo, the “cheap” brand owned by the Canadian telecartel, Telus. 😏
