Any Canadian using #FreedomMobile here? I'm switching over from Public Mobile to Freedom as Public Mobile keeps pushing me to sign up with Telus & I don't want to. Also, Public Mobile uses Telus towers & it has extremely bad connectivity in many areas of Vancouver Island that I need more reliable mobile services, when not at home. Up in Yellowpoint & Qualicum Beach areas - you can barely connect with Telus/Public Mobile.

Vidéotron’s Freedom Mobile confirmed a data breach occurred between 12 and 18 January 2026.

Data included names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers and account numbers.

Has anyone had a good experience with #FreedomMobile? I wanted to give them a try but my experience thus far has been bizarre.

I placed an online order and was charged $10 for a SIM card. I received an e-mail receipt for the charge but nothing else, no e-mail terms of service or copy of the plan I signed up for.

I contacted “customer service” online and was told I would receive that by e-mail when the SIM card shipped in 3 to 7 business days. It has now been 9 days and still no e-mail or SIM.

There's a data cap war happening with the carriers this year for Black Friday.

Within 1 week, it has gone from 20, 30, 40 and now 50GB data for $34/month! Who knows how far they'll go!

Another expert witness service company tried to add me to their stable this week. I always decline, because their contracts are too restrictive. I wrote in my reply today, “I won’t be signing a contract with [name redacted]. I don’t sign non-compete agreements of any kind. I always reserve the right to market to anyone, anywhere, anytime.”

The expert witness “matchmaking” companies include contract language that prohibits you from contacting the client for additional business. That client is off limits unless you go through their service. Excuse me, but they’re not on the management team at FIFO Networks, and they don’t get to decide who I can and can’t negotiate new contracts with.

So – if you’re a North American telecom carrier, wired or wireless, and you need an expert witness with experience and knowledge in the engineering and buildout of telecommunications infrastructure, I’m here for you. Note that my expertise is in system development, with only tangential knowledge of the regulatory environment. I’m not the legal expert, I’m the system expert.
