I'm very tired today, but did some work anyway. Maybe I'll even get this Picnic Outfit pattern done before my kids are home for summer vacation. #knitting #KnittingToys

I'm currently working on two patterns: a picnic outfit for my toys (which includes the pink dress in the photo), and an updated version of my Mama Bunny. It's taking me a while, because spring is busy with so many things, but I think it's cute so far! #knitting #KnittingToys #KnittingDesign

I'm getting ready to announce my mystery knit-along later today 🤩 I didn't run one last year, so I'm extra excited. It's always so fun to see what everyone knits, and what their guesses about the project are.
I've had a hard time sourcing yarn for my own version (hence the complaining about no LYS yesterday). Hopefully this isn't a big issue for anyone who wants to join in, but we can all work together on creative solutions!

Thow-back Thursday: The Silky Seal toy was originally designed to go with my mermaid doll, and published in a collection of toy patterns by Interweave in 2016. Later, I released the two patterns separately, with a few little updates. I'm still pretty happy with how the flippers are done, and used a similar method for the walrus toy. If I had time, I'd love to try knitting one in a really fluffy yarn!

Here's another of my past mystery knit-along projects: a kangaroo and joey. This pattern also comes with a cardigan for the kangaroo, so we had to do the KAL over 6 weeks. My favourite part of this toy is the finger-puppet joey. He's so tiny and cute!

The yarns I'm using for my mystery knit-along project are so warm and cozy looking. I've knit up little swatches for the two main parts/gauges. The mohair yarn is adding just the right amount of fuzzy halo to the taupe yarn, and they're so soft together. This is going to make a very cuddly toy!

The ginger tabby cat is all finished now! I sewed her skirt from some printed cotton, and like the added detail it gives the outfit. The cape is knitted from some 2-ply wool, and finished with a pair of antler buttons.

I'm slowly figuring out how it works here, and finding more people to follow. I followed a lot of children's lit illustrators in other places, because I find their art very stimulating for my own toy designs. Hopefully I'll discover more of them here over time.
