22 years ago: December 17, 2003, #SpaceShipOne's Flight 11P was the first non-government piloted supersonic flight. Piloted by Brian Binnie, SS1 flew from and returned to Mojave Airport #KMHV, later renamed Mojave Air & Space Port. SS1 was carried at takeoff by the White Knight carrier plane, drop-launched from 47,900ft, climbed by rocket to 67,800ft. Once at Mojave #KMHV, I was taxiing a C182 to Rwy 30. CFI on C150 in the pattern said, "We'll let the little Cessna go first." C182 is bigger. But it was a trap.
