"Hi ho silver" - Jim Diamond

Jim brings a very large backing band, cramming eight people onto the main stage. Darts from the last decade sit down, safe in the knowledge that their record is still safe.

Leather coat is not a great look for Jim, all the weight seems to be around his shoulder.

This is very much a U.K. story, but it is a selfless act that all unfolded 40 years ago today. Jim Diamond was at #1 on the U.K. charts with ‘I Should Have Known Better’.

“I’m delighted to be at number one, but next week I don’t want people to buy my record; I want them to buy Band Aid instead”

Jim Diamond performed "I should have known better" three times in the autumn.

He deliberately didn't sustan eye contact with the camera until the last chorus of the last performance. That's ballsy stagecraft.

Today? We're gazing into his tortured soul from the first verse.
