Afonso Poyart – „Die Vorsehung“ (2014)

Es gibt Thriller, die noch an den Mythos der rationalen Ordnung glauben, Serienmorde als Puzzle lösen und Ermittlungen als intellektuelles Spiel genießen. Am Ende steht dann immer eine Wahrheit, sauber rekonstruiert, als hätte Gewalt eine präzise Logik. Genau in der Tradition bewegt sich auch dieser Film von Afonso Poyart. Er will düster sein, philosophisch, fast metaphysisch. Doch unter seiner Oberfläche steckt ein erstaunlich konservatives Weltbild über Schuld, Wissen und Kontrolle. Mit Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Abbie Cornish und Colin Farrell. (ZDF, Wh.)

I've been binge watching the old TV show #NorthernExposure recently and until now I really didn't understand the appeal of it when it 1st aired in the 90's, apart from the fact that I thought that the character, #MaggieOConnell played by #JanineTurner was really HOT but I think I get it now . . .

It's a character driven show & the viewers connect & identify with the flawed, conflicted, neurotic & self-obsessed personalities of the characters, who they so so much in themselves & others.

At least that's why I'm enjoying watching it in its entirety for the 1s time now.
