One of the things that makes me cranky today is that I heard from a friend that a technical team in her organisation that employed most of the female technical staff in the division got disbanded and all employees retrenched in a restructure. Months later they rehired the positions. Net result: number of women employed in technical positions was reduced. A female manager in another technical team in the same organisation feels unheard and marginalised.
A different organisation has lost every female technical employee in the last 6 months because of their toxic culture.
Both organisations are in #Melbourne.
Today is International Women's Day and this kind of behaviour where women are pushed out of technical work by toxic workplace culture and practices is still common.
