This #mural artist puts huge #lace on the sides of buildings. I want one for #IpswichLace so much, but I wouldn't invite anyone from outside the US to come here right now.
Anyway, she's giving a talk for #IOLI soon and I will store that in my cheek pouches for some future grant writing when we get out of this phase.

The #lace segment that ran today is now available to view on the web.
My heart is broken that they showed only a smidge of #IpswichLace and didn't even say its name....sigh.

Very psyched for the "Laces of #Ireland" talk today. I'm so impressed with how much the Irish lacemakers are cherishing their history, despite generational trauma, with these beautiful crafts and items.
And they seem to be getting government grant support, which keeps failing me here in the US. I want to learn from them.

Oh no. Now I'm obsessed with #NeedleLace. This was much easier and more fun than I expected. First practice leaf was underwhelming, but the second one was just flowing along.... She wants them in any condition, tho, so I'll send 'em both.
Now I want to make more leaves for the #CommunityLacemaking project.
Maggie Hensel Brown gave a dynamite talk for #IOLI yesterday about the development and goals of this.
Her videos were super clear.

Upcoming talk at the #IOLI lace group lecture series (on Zoom):
THE ARCHDUKES' COVERLET
presented by Gillian DyeGil Dye has recreated lots of early #BobbinLace, sometimes from paintings! Lovely work.

Did you know there is/was a museum of flax??
I asked for a lecture on #flax a while ago, and we're going to have it today!1!
We look at stunning and fine laces in museums, and you can't even get linen thread that thin and fine today. Was it processing? Genetics? Lost skills? What's the deal?
CELEBRATING PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE OF FLAX

I was just re-watching a previous #lace lecture from #IOLI, about a woman who re-creates #reticella and #PuntoInAria from the original 16th century pattern books and museum pieces.
Grace Gamble has a lovely website with examples and instructions.

Oh, someone just pinged me to say they saw my new #IpswichLace project article in the International Organization of Lace spring 2023 bulletin. I submitted a while back and had forgotten about it.
We'll post it on our local chapter website soon, But here's part of it.

@kjkillackey I don't know where you are located, but you might contact your local lace group? Most are back to regular meetings now, and you could bring your treasures to a gathering and people would love to help you.
