Diamine Inkvent Day 9-12
Resuming the inkvent posts as swatch Wednesday posts. I took pictures of day 9-12 before I got totally swamped with moving stuff, but I’ll have to take the rest of the pictures in the new house. (I do have all my swatches, though!)
Day 9: Bittersweet. Very bright green, no shimmer or sheen. I thought maybe this one would be a bit hard to read but it seems fine. It’s not quite as day-glow as it looks in that photo but it is pretty bright in the sun. I love greens and a lot of my other light greens are a bit muddy in comparison so it’s fairly unique in my collection. Will get used for sure.

Very pretty, and I rather liked playing with it on the paint brush where it’s a bit lighter than in the handwriting. Not a colour I might have chosen for myself but I’m looking forwards to using it because I think it’s going to fill a nice neutral-adjacent niche in my monthly palettes.

Wahhhhh the paper in the 2026 #Hobonichi Cousin is so much better compared to the 2025 edition!!
I'm so sad that Diamine #inkvent Day 25 doesn't photograph easily because it looks absolutely insane on this paper!

Diamine Inkvent day 25. Myrrh the Merrier. A dark blue with substantial red sheen and blue shimmer. The swatch is amazing and in writing the sheen was at a healthy (not overwhelming) level. I can’t see the shimmer in writing, but that might just be the light here. I journaled with it and ran into it tending to dry on the nib and hard start a little, but not like a super sheener.
This completes the hotel swatching challenge.

Most felicitous greetings of the season to you all and thank you for travelling along with me in this inky journey this month.
The last ink of the calendar is called "Myrhh the Merrier" ha ha I see what Diamine did there.
It's a pretty luscious dark teal with a sheen that I can't quite see in this light, but we'll see if we can take a better look later. And it has shimmer as well, in pretty blue. So it's both a dessert topping and a floor wax and very pretty it is too.
I thought I'd take a bit more time for our finale, and seeing as I'm staying at a seaside hotel for Christmas visiting my sister, the sea was on my mind. With the colour nice and nautical I wanted to create a sea monster that wouldn't look out of place on a mediaeval map of the seas... Here be Dragons and all that. And I started thinking about placoderms and sclerotic rings and gulper eels.
And this chappy appeared after 2-3 hours.
Now I'm not seeing any sheen there, but I don't have any sunlight to hand right now.
But the sparkle shows up pretty well.

Most felicitous greetings of the season to you all and thank you for travelling along with me in this inky journey this month.
The last ink of the calendar is called "Myrhh the Merrier" ha ha I see what Diamine did there.
It's a pretty luscious dark teal with a sheen that I can't quite see in this light, but we'll see if we can take a better look later. And it has shimmer as well, in pretty blue. So it's both a dessert topping and a floor wax and very pretty it is too.
I thought I'd take a bit more time for our finale, and seeing as I'm staying at a seaside hotel for Christmas visiting my sister, the sea was on my mind. With the colour nice and nautical I wanted to create a sea monster that wouldn't look out of place on a mediaeval map of the seas... Here be Dragons and all that. And I started thinking about placoderms and sclerotic rings and gulper eels.
And this chappy appeared after 2-3 hours.
Now I'm not seeing any sheen there, but I don't have any sunlight to hand right now.
But the sparkle shows up pretty well.
